The Platform

For far too long, we've spent too much time and money funding temporary solutions to long-term problems. Columbus is an amazing community, and we need local leaders that prove their investment in our future growth through action, not just reaction.

Transparency and Accountability

  •  Establish term limits for Mayor, City Council, and other elected city positions. New voices and fresh ideas deserve a chance to be heard.

  • Host quarterly townhall meetings to give community members an opportunity to speak directly to city leaders outside of council meetings.

  • Refuse any future city contracts with irreputable organizations. Create additional community review opportunities for any large-scale city contracts, and require an official statement from the Mayor regarding the reasoning behind the decision made.

  • Create a clear and accessible submission form on the Columbus government website for questions and concerns from the community. Require a monthly response by the Mayor and City Council members to at least 3-5 of these submissions during Council meetings.

  • Post summarized meeting minutes that are readily accessible to the public, allowing clear and concise  information on what's being done for our city.

Business Development

  • Upgrade public transit options and foster increased usage by partnering with local business to optimize route schedules that are based on community needs.

  • Promote workforce development in high-growth sectors like logistics, green energy, and healthcare by linking local businesses with Ohio high schools and colleges.

  • Penalize long-extending ownership of vacant commercial properties. No longer will opportunities for small business development and city growth be limited for the sake of tax write-offs by large developers.

Public Safety

  • Expand community policing with a new unit focused specifically on positive engagement with the public.

  • Increase training in de-escalation, as well as further investment into mental health crisis teams to work in conjunction with officers.

  • Work with Chief of Police to select improved technology in order to reduce time needed for administrative tasks.

Housing

  • Reform zoning to allow for more affordable and mixed-use housing, especially near public transportation.

  • Partner with developers and nonprofits to build new affordable housing, while also providing job-training for individuals interested in construction and design fields.

  • Preserve and upgrade existing affordable housing, especially in historically underserved neighborhoods like Linden, Franklinton, and the South Side.
